Philosophy
At Sunnyside Academy, every child matters. Every child is valued and seen as a unique individual with their own path and their own journey. We intentionally designed our Academy to be a place where children can safely explore their feelings and pursue their curiosities, which in turn builds high emotional intelligence and strong academic skills. We believe that when a child feels safe and when they know they are loved by their teachers, a strong community is formed which nurtures deep meaningful learning and diversity of thought.
This newfound community gives children a sense of belonging, a place to call their own. When these dynamics are present, children grow, thrive and experience clarity in their self-identity and place in this world. We encourage asking questions, problem-solving, collaboration, empathy, respect for our environment, and an appreciation and inclusion of global cultures and traditions. We are better together, and Sunnyside Academy is proud to be a part of the village that it takes to raise each child to feel safe, loved, and in community.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple:
At Sunnyside Academy, curiosity leads to exploration and exploration leads to mastery of foundational skills in all areas of the curriculum. We create an environment that elevates wonder, curiosity, and joy. Our youngest students’ curiosity is maximized because we honor their questions and consider their perspectives as we build strong educational foundations. As a result, they develop the confidence and accountability to discover and explore.
When young children are encouraged to ask questions and make their own discoveries, they become good listeners and critical thinkers who gain the confidence to take on challenges and seize unlimited possibilities. Sunnyside Academy’s program is an interactive, hands-on experience that nurtures a love of learning and working with others.
Sunnyside’s teachers create learning opportunities that incorporate students’ ideas and interests; our program encourages students to ask questions, gather data, learn research skills, make models, and share their learning with their peers.

With a focus on early literacy development and supporting intellectual curiosity, we promote developmentally appropriate possibilities that will enable us to discover the gifts each child possesses. We provide our children with a safe, engaging, collaborative, and creative place to learn. Our world is ever changing. At Sunnyside Academy, we have a responsibility to foster an atmosphere of caring, respect, and understanding of one another and our world. We are committed to working together; parents, teachers, and child to ensure a high quality program for all of our students.
Nutrition
Our nutritious meals and snacks are provided every day—and they’re all included in your tuition. Even if your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, we’ll serve up safe and delicious menu options created by our nutrition expert that has over 20 years experience in the childcare industry. At mealtimes, your child will get brave trying new things, practice good table manners, learn to share, and discover the flavors and textures of world foods. With the cooking demos and culinary classes we offer your child’s palette will broaden and diversify.
